I’ve launched The Dark Side of Sand In Your Eye blog as a place to stack the no-so-public stories that are for a limited audience that I hope is safer, more prepared for the content, and can tolerate the rawness of a human being who is struggling. Topics include trauma, resilience, and stories both personal and professional that are not for broad distribution.

I've been around and seen a few things, from awful to amazing. Broken babies, exploding nuclear plants, plumbing river bottoms, rowing through icebergs, being mistaken for a griz, and detained in communist countries will change your perspective. There's a taste of realism and an eye for the absurd that's been refined in the forge of adversity. I'm am compelled to observe and report those things in life that people either don't see or don't want to know, whether humorous or wrenching. And now that my head is irreparably broken by thumping it on things so I can no longer play hockey, I'm going to write. God help you all.
